Back-to-Back Champions

The Wahoo Base Ball Club of Royal Oak traveled to Flint, MI this past Saturday to defend our title at the Stockton Cup. The weather was far more favorable this year and a great time was had by all.

The Wahoos first faced off against the Richmond Bees BBC. Although the Bees started the game off with a tally in the 1st inning, the Wahoos wouldn't allow them to score again until the 9th. The Wahoos won the first match by a tally of 33-2. Meanwhile, Lumber City BBC of Flint edged out the Union BBC of Dexter 20 - 19 in extra innings. The Lumber City victory set up a rematch of last year's championship match.

In the final match, the Wahoos continued their striking prowess with Shoeless, Cheers, Mallet, Sweepy, and Spitz leading the way. The Wahoos successfully defended the title and took home the Stockton Cup by a tally of 29-10.

Although the chicken (aka "Big Bawk") was not officially awarded following the matches, it was noted that Cheers was outstanding in left field and Shoeless had some notably long strikes. The Wahoos as a whole performed admirably as evidenced by the final score of our matches, leading many to hope for a very successful season.

The Wahoo BBC of Royal Oak will return to the field on Memorial Day (May 27th) against the Canton Cornshuckers BBC. Both teams will be marching in the Royal Oak Memorial Day Parade at 9:00 AM. Match will commence at Starr Jaycee Park at 12:00 PM.
